Middlesbrough
Middlesbrough is a large post-industrial town in northern Yorkshire. The James Cook University Hospital is based here.

The midwife-led facility is next to the Simpson Centre for Reproductive Health. An average of 6000 babies are born here every year.
Newcastle
The Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle is a 673-bed hospital opened in 1752.
It is now also used as a teaching hospital for medical students at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne.
Stoke-on-Trent
The Royal Stoke University Hospital is a teaching and research hospital. It has a busy Accident and Emergency department.
Glasgow
There are 35 hospitals in Glasgow and the surrounding area.
Glasgow’s Royal Infirmary’s has a capacity of around 1000 beds. The hospital campus as a whole covers an area of around 20 acres.
Southampton
Southampton General Hospital was founded in 1900 and is now also used as a teaching hospital.
The neighbouring Princess Anne Hospital is a maternity facility. It featured in the first two series of Channel 4’s One Born Every Minute.
Cambridge
Addenbrooke’s Hospital is home to Cambridge’s Accident and Emergency department. It is an internationally-renowned teaching hospital and research centre.
Manchester
Manchester Royal Infirmary’s A & E sees around 145,000 each year.

Bristol
Also known as BRI, Bristol Royal Infirmary is a large teaching hospital in the centre of the city.
Besides general care and surgery, it specialises in cardiothoracic and cystic fibrosis services.

Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital has an Accident and Emergency department for adults.
Children are treated at the Sheffield Children’s Hospital on Western Bank.
The hospital is a major trauma centre for Sheffield and the surrounding areas.
